I know this thread has been started many times before but here we go again...Which is truely better? I know that the superram is better low end torque and the MiniRam is better high end horses but truely...which would everyone recommend? Which ones are you guys running? Also, which would give me better 1/4 mile times? Thanks guys!

For best street drivability and overall torq the super ram is the winner hands down. There maybe slight top end gains with the Mini-Ram on the same motor. Basically it depends on your intended use for the car, if its mostly daily driver stuff the SR is the way to go, if it sees more strip than street the MR is the way to go.

MR requires more rear gear, a stouter valvetrain, and a stronger built bottom end because its best suited to high-rpm use. Thus, its best suited to a manual tranny.

SR is a low/midrange intake, doesnt need any gear, doesnt need a stronger bottom end either.

Both are capable of equal times and equal numbers, provided you spend the right amount of money and put together the right combination.

But SR has a CARB number, and its recommended cam will pass also.

After reading all these MR/SR threads I would get a SR for my daily driver.

Has anyone done some type 'computer desktop
power analysis', comparing the MR and SR?
Are the runner lenghts of these two manifold, known?
I would really like to know how helpful somewhat
longer runners are for increasing mid-RPM torque.

Another superram vote here.

It gives GOBS of torque. It pushes you back into your seat. Hard.
I had the SR and then I tried a longer runner stealthram set-up kind of a thing.
I missed the torque alot! It gives so much enjoyment to driving the car everyday. Even just to go around the block. Give yourself that enjoyment as you will daily drive the car 95% of time. It's way worth it.
Plus it has EGR provision. I don't think the miniram has this.
You could pass a CA smog test with the SR.

Sorry Paul, that's bass-ackwards. The SR has longer runners, ie. more torque. I believe that the stock TPI
runner length is 21", the SR is 17". I don't know what the Stealth is, but its runner length is much closer to a Mini Ram or LT intake. There are some specs I've seen posted somewhere over the years. Sorry I can't recall where to find them.

Having had a SR, and now having a MR. I have to say they are both great intakes. I have seen a few people compare them and and they seem to run the same 1/4 times for the most part.

For me, I don't really feel one has given more power over the other. I like the easy install, and clean look of the MR. The SR if you are someone who will be working on your car often, it will become your worst friend. The MR is not bad. It's designed after the LT-1 style with a little bit longer runner. Which means it's fine for a auto car. There are plenty of LT-1 cars running killer times. I have a auto with 2.59 gears and running the MR. Truth is I'm afraid to go to a 3.45 gear, or even a 3.07. I can light the tires up at 45MPH in 3rd now. IN fact I love the High revs with this gear. I have had it up to 90MPH in second gear. I can do my 0-60 in 1st no shifting.

I've seen LT-4 cars with just top end work putting more, or equal power as 383 SR cars. The MR puts out such a nice flat curve as well.

So, IMO I would go for which one you think looks better. Both are so darn close in every other field that's about the major difference between to two these days.

I had the SR then the MR then went back to the SR. I have a six speed and I love the torque of the super ram. You can't beat torque for the street. On the track as I am finding out, it may not be your best of friends off the line.
