It isn't a bad job to do at home with pretty much common tools. The worse part is getting to the Opti. You have to remove the water pump, the accessory bracket, and the balancer. Sometimes the balancer is rusted in place onto the hub. As this balancer is a two peice unit with the hub being pressed onto the crank as a separate peice. You may have to jack the engine up slightly to get the balancer off the hub and clear of the steering rack.

Once the balancer and the water pump is off the engine, the Opti easily accessible. Remove plug wires, disconnect the opti harness and vacuum hoses, and the three retaining screws and pull if off.

If you take it to a shop the labor to do this job is roughly 3.5 hours and depending on the local labor rates and what model year your car is the job can be around $650 or more.

Check the easy things first. The hoses and lines, especially under the fuel rail covers. Also, check your fuel filter and fuel pressure. If they are okay, take a look at this article. https://www.corvetteforum.com/techti...=231&TopicID=2

I think the going rate is 6 hours of labor plus parts, unless you bring the parts. If you have over 50K on the clock, replace the water pump, too. Some dealers won't do the job as not all have LT1 mechanics.
