I have had a small clunk in the rear for sometime. Both times I checked for the culprit, all I could see was an sway bar endlink that was suspect. Ordered energy suspension sway bar bushing kits and installed the rears yesterday.
Clunk no more
For all those clunkers out there, take a look at yours.
I had to remove spare tire for this project. It is staying off for good. Looks alot better without
As a bonus I found another set of keys in a magnetic box on the spare.
Here is a pic of end link and spare delete.

Cool, I changed worn ones on mine and it DIDN'T fix the clunk. Should find the culprit when I swap rear ends though, I'd like to think. Rear shot looks damn nice, BTW!
Mine was the spindles, but I will keep that in mind for when it returns.
86, I haven't seen it, but my SO says it just looks awesome with the tire carrier off. She says she can see the halfshafts just wrapping right up and it looks sweet!
Looks great.....now get rid of those hangers for the spare tire carrier
Yeah, it wasn't till after I finished that I decided to leave the carrier off.
I will be under there soon and clean and polish everything I can see.
Next pic will be full of shine and no hangers
What kind of clunk was it? I'm getting an almost scraping sound from the rear on my 84'when going slow in forward or reverse but I don't here it when I speed up(though that doesn't neccesarily means it goes away). Everything seams tight and I can't figure what is causing it. I wouldn't worry about it but it is kind of loud.
