What would be the most horsepower a stock L98 2 bolt block could handle? Assuming motor has just been rebuilt with good quality but not top of the range components.
I have a stock 2 bolt with only arp studs. Hyperutectic pistons, stock rods with arp bolts, and a cast crank. Makes 450 hp at wheels with spray. Haven't broken anything............yet! I agree that it will handle quite a bit.
typically the first thing to let go is the rods. Quite often they fail secondary to a bolt failure- did you put in good rod bolts? Did you at least use new rod bolts? This would probably be the HP limiting factor of your engine, and there is no real magic HP number that this stuff will break, just that it will fail sooner than the good stuff.
Not enough, if you beet your vette like I do. I did a killer top end on it last year. Because the stock engine was rebuilt when i bought the car. So i figured I'll leave the bottom end alone because there are people that go 11's on a stock sort block. Well I paid for it last week.
Now re-rebuilding with forged internals to handle the rev's.
I agree that there strong enough....just keep the rpm's down, no 5,500-6,500 shifts with a mini-ram
I was making 470 rwhp and turning 7000 rpms when mine gave up. Spun all three center main bearings and broke the center main cap in half. I was using ARP main bolts.
