Default Intermittent code 43

Hi,

Car:1992 LT1
I get a code 43 (knock sensor) when I start it up. Then it goes out and sometimes goes on as I drive. What is strange is that even with it on it seems to run fine even at WOT. I checked the circuit as per my Chevy shop manual and everthing checks out.

I am thinking about getting the Ease software to monitor it, however I don't know if that would help.

Could something else give a false code?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Steven

My TPS was way out of whack and threw a code 43.. I have an L98.. I readjusted and cleared the codes. No probs now. Have you made any changes lately? Or did this happen out of the blue? Let us know

Unriced,

Thanks for the advice. This problem first happened at the track (road racing). At that time I also broke my damper, and power steering line o-ring. At first I thought that maybe the code 43 was false due to the wobble in the broken damper or maybe the powersteering fluid that leaked all over the opti.

I now pulled all the plugs and it looks like 4 (all on the same bank) have the look of a compression leak. The plugs were all tight and are bosch. I wonder if the plugs are cracked internally and they leaked? Is that possible?

My next thing I am going to try is a new set of plugs.

Thanks,

Steven
