New to forums, new to vettes.
In terms of "quickies", though, be careful what you do - these are performance vehicles and are going to cost more to modify that a standard Honda Civic. You'll see products like the TB airfoil out there that claim HP gains - STAY AWAY. They've been purchased, track tested, and dyno tested, and they don't do anything.
Best of luck - it sounds like you have yourself a gem of a car!!! See you on the roads, and don't forget to wave!

However, get this through your head - Corvettes are GM products. As such, they are assembled with the same basic sensabilites as your average Impala. They are not hard to work on, they are not complex, they do not require tons of special tools.
If you have basic hand tools and a good mechanical understanding, you can do anything on these cars.
As for hop-ups... cat back exhaust will open it up! Make it sound more like it should! I have Corsa (some call it quiet), Magnaflow is very good, as is Borla and B&B.
If you wish to go inside the motor a little, Roller Rockers are one of the best internal upgrades you can do. Simply stunning. The factory stamped steel pieces are junk - they are prone to flexing and they are inconsistant in manufacture. Your motor then is only as good as the worst one.
Depending on where you live, long tube headers would be a big help, too. But expect added heat and noise.
