Code 34 on L-98

Code 34 is as most have said, very very often the relaysBUT, if you read the Helms manual, it can also be caused by the ECM receiving or in this case not receiving a signal that any air is flowing through the MAF.
Just one second of "no air flow" at start up will trigger code 34 and, as I have experienced, just make the car run generally crappy including loss of power at all speeds.
I found that the "no air" signal is a result, in my case, of a bad IAC. Yes, the car did and does start, but the IAC being fully closed for 1 second, the first second of cranking, established the code.
I am not sure why, but once the code is established, you are driving in "limp home" mode
I found my IAC was pretty carboned up and way out of parameters, actually fully closed at initial start up. I "adjusted it" to the 1 1/8 factory setting but since this was the second time this has happened in the last few years, I just went ahead and replaced it with a new ECHLIN IAC from NAPA
Car runs as good as new, power has returned
Don't know if this will help or not
