Im just a scanner, not a tuner. With a question. On a WOT scan I always get 10-20 knocks and up to 12* retard. I just did a datalog and noticed this. The car barely spun the tires and had 12 knocks. The next time I stood on it (must have been sand on the pavement) I spun all the way through 1st gear. 140 knocks. Seems like Im just getting knocks when the motors free reving-tirespinning. When it hooks up the knocks stop.
Any ideas out there? Anyone else see this? Ive been trying to control the knocks with timing/FP but now Im
really lost.

i had a problem with my 91 at about 3000-4000 rpm i would get 4-5 degrees of retard did everything possiable to find problem turns out it was false retard there was no pinging plugs looked great but i have headers that were hitting the frame. so i had ski-down-it burn a chip, cars runs mint it's a day and nite diffrence. do you have pinging or anything at that rpm???

My knocks start as soon as the tires start spinning, around 1400 rpm. It stops when the tires hook up. I can see this on Datamaster. I dont actually hear the knocks. If it hooks up quick, it will only be 10-20 knocks. I have a ski chip and the upgrade ESC module. Im wondering if it is picking up sound vibes from the gutted precats. Hate to have to put headers on it.
