Default Engine Mod's

I know what i wanna do for my exhaust and intake. Maybe you guys could give me some ideas for engine mods... I'd like to add some pieces to the engine itself, without removing or rebuilding it. It seems adding 1.52 MM rockers is a useful mod, So i'm gonna add those in. Are they're any similar mods I can do? ... I guess I should let you guys know my goal- I wanna be able to smoke my bro's mustang . So any ideas what else to add?

I wish I could help! I'm just not familiar enough with the 85 motors.... Sorry! Somebody'll chime in, though, I'm sure.

i know you said u have ideas for the intake but i just have to say Porting the Plemun and bolting on slp runners are worth the $$. my friend had the same camaro i had and he had it done and what a difference it makes.

edit: forgot to mention he also had the Big Mouth Tpi Base Intake Manifold

If you have iron heads the 1.52:1 ProMagnums will add some HP.

Exhaust mods will give a real boost, especially if you do FL headers.

Also try:
-cut back spark plugs (see my site)
-under drive crank with over drive alt pulleys
-160deg F T-stat & fan switch
-SLP ram air intake

So you see the reason I need to pump up my vette alittle bit. It's embarrasing ... To be fair his is a '97 Cobra svt. I believe those are rated at 300HP/300Torque stock.

I like the 160 Tstat and fan switch idea. And whats a site where i can take a look at those ProMagnums?

Why not just go with 1.6 rockers since you're replacing them.

I was told I might have a problem fitting in 1.6 rockers... and that 1.52's still give a pretty good gain. What is the stock size? I think it's 1.43? Does anyone have 1.6's in their L98? What kind of 'massaging' would need to be done to get em to fit?

The stockers are 1.5 ratio non-roller, self aligning, if memory serves

go with 1.6 or 1.7 ratio with new valvesprings and you'll see some pretty good power. jegs sells them for like 180 bucks....that's almost 10 bucks per horsepower.....good money on a 'vette.

I would go 1.6, 1.7s might boost your power band a bit too high out of the RPM band of the TPI manifold if I understand correctly.

Ohh and just a warning, this is how I started, I know am building a stroker motor that those 1.6s I intended for my 86 are now going on...
