Default Chip burners/programmers...Hardware

So, I'm checking ebay for a pocket programmer. Didn't find one so I started generic searches to see what's available. I came across this...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...830542671&rd=1

It's cheaper by 2/3s and while I'm always looking for a good deal I'm always aware of the axiom..."You get what you pay for".

It seems to have the support I need for my "red-headed step child" 1226870 ECM and it's 2732 Eprom.

Opinions on this hardware?

I've been using a willem board to burn my chips for 1.5 years now.. Works pretty good and since the design is public domain, there are forums on the web with information and tech 'support'.

I think it is at : www.willem.org

One endorsement from a forum member is good enough for me! I'm biddin'!

So, I've got WinBin up and running and I'm playing with it. Seems like I need a def file for my particular car. Is this the case? And where can find the approproate def (.ecu) file? I've found a few sites with loads of files but how do I identify the one I need? Is this strictly trial and error?

I too have a Willem for over 1 year now...works like a charm...the only thing I still need to do is build a small case for it.

Came home from work this evening and it felt like Christmas!

My ALDL cable and my chip burner both arrived today!

One from Poland...the other from Hong Kong. Who knew Oklahoma was right smack dab in the middle?

Now if I can just figure out how to hook all this stuff up and make it work!? I can't wait to get started. Wish me luck!

I hope that isn't one of the TOP 2003 programmers. I bought one and never could get it to work. Ended up buying a Eprommer 6. It works like a champ. Need to build a box for it but it is small enough it will go with me anywhere. You can even power it with a 9 volt battery if needed.
