I have found a number of sites that have a plethora of files posted. However the file names seem arbitrary to me. How can I go about finding the proper def file for my application?

I don't use WinBin for tuning, I use TunerCat. As it is much easier plus I don't have to search for definition files.
Or you can download TunerCat and download some $42 bin files or email me and I can send a couple $42 bins for you to play with. Then you can get some familiarity with the tool. TunerCat comes with the $42 definition and you have 30 days to mess with it before having to register and pay for it.
I searched and searched and searched for that elusive 85 ECU freeware file, let me tell you- it doesnt exist. Tunercat is the ONLY one you will find. I swapped ECM so I wouldnt have to deal with it. Believe it or not, I spent less time swapping to a 165 ECM than I did searching for that file.

I appreciate the effort and the info! I guess it's time to move up to the 165. I've only glossed over the upgrade articles. Time to start boning up on making the switch!
