Default Lug nut specs

I want to ditch my keyed lug nuts and replace them with regular lug nuts. What are the specs?

On how big of a TRUCK??? I figured they went metric at some point, but Corvette wheel studs were 7/16th", FOREVER. Since the C4 uses the same hubs (wheel bearings) '84-'96, either metrics came in later or they must be interchangable?

I wanted to get rid of the locking lugs too. Plus I beat up a bunch of them changing wheels a lot. Just bought 20 of them for my92.

Take one off and headover to Pepboys or Kragan or AutoZone. I bought four proper size lugs for about 4 buck a piece and threw the locks away!

Now I can get 100 ft/lbs on every lug! And the rotors are staying straight now....

I use either 6-point a 3/4" or a 19mm socket, either one seems to fit very snugly on the hex head of the lug nut.

That is NOT how nuts are sized! Go to any source of hardware and buy some "3/4" SAE" nuts and see how well the fit your " '87 vette".

Ok I will. And you know what.... the ones I buy will fit just like before because I will know what I am looking for and I will be looking for a lug that takes a "3/4" SAE" socket to take it off which will fit my "'87 vette"

3/4" = 19.05mm

Now if that doesn't beat all! Not only does he give WRONG information (3/4" SAE), he defends the wrong info, by saying HE has enough info to purchase the proper nuts.

"Scoob" didn't post the question, to find out whether anyone on here was capable of purchasing lug nuts for themselves. He wanted SPECS, so HE could go out and purchase them for himself. If he follows scorp508's advice, he is guaranteed to come home with nuts (3/4" SAE) that won't suit the purpose. It is one thing to make a silly mistake, but it's almost criminal to defend it, based on an invalid technicality.

While we're at it, can anyone tell me what, "a "3/4" SAE" socket" is? How is that different than a 3/4" USS socket?

UNBELIEVABLE!!!

Had it right all along. All C4s have M12X1.5 wheel studs and take the same thread size nuts to fit properly. The hex or wrench size is immaterial to the nut holding the wheel securely. 19 MM is the common hex size for THAT nut, although 3/4" English, will work.
