Well, got my car back from the shop after having the Opti and water pump and a few other thngs replaced and good thing is...it has a little quicker response and runs a lot cooler...BUT....the engine still misses when it is hot and is still hard startups! WHat do I need to replace now??
Thats the problem with most mechanics today. Instead of trying to figure out the real cause of problems they just start throwing parts at them to try and fix it.
How old are the wires and plugs? Also is the miss just under a load or all the time? More than likely you have the miss when it is cold also but it is not as easy to feel and gets worse the hotter the engine gets.

Well I was able to replace the passenger side plugs a coule months ago but i could never do the other saide. The wires appear to be in decent shape but not sure internally if they are. And there is a slight miss when cold but more present and stumbles when hot. And the miss is not under load but everynow and then it will hesitate upon acceleration.
Sounds like a bad wire grounding out some where. It could also be a bad plug. When the resistance builds up enough, either through a bad plug or wire, the spark will jump to any point with a lesser resistance. So any weak spot in a plug wire or boot will let the spark out. Once this starts it leaves a carbon trail and makes it easier and easier for the spark to jump out insted of going to the plug. I would replace the plugs and wires. I would bet this is the problem and this will fix it.
Well I did not tell the mechanic to check for missing. I assumed the problem was the opti because my '92 has over 108,000 with the original opti so i figured it was about time. And readin enough posts about the opti to change out the waterpump at the same time I had that done as well. The other repairs were for the turn signal and window.
There have been quite a few posts about missing/stubling lately and some I belive say check the IAC...I looked at it and it is dirty but I dont know how to check for functionality. MY computer also throws codes 28 and 32.
It's most likely the code 32 giving you issues. Thats the egr. Exhaust Gas Recirculation. Its an emmisions thing. Any mechanic worth his salt should be able to tell you if its working properly unless its an intermittent problem with the ECM (main computer). Carbon buildup or a weak spring could be the culprit as well as a vaccum leak on the lines to/from the egr solonoid.
I agree that the Code 32 is probably at the root of your problem. I would now look for another mechanic to help you out. If the original guy knew that the Code 32 was there but didn't do anything about it, then he's NOBODY I'd want working on my car. A competent mechanic will be able to get you running well again. Good luck.
