I have on other vehicles. Wet it all good with a spray bottle filled with water and a small amount of liquid soap and let it soak for a few minutes. Pull up a corner of the tint and wet it good. Take your time and pull up a little at a time after letting it soak. It takes awhile for it to get under the tint to the glue. Try to pull it off from side to side in lieu of top to bottom. TBH I have also just ripped it off and it did not mess anything up. You should wet it to be safe though. The hardest part is getting all glue off after its removed.
I was wondering the same thing - my tint looks cool but it's all purple now because it's old. I know if you spray the tint with Windex it will bubble.
I took the tint off the side windows and scraped the glue off with a razor. I couldn't get near the door seals because I was afraid to cut them so I had a strip of glue along the bottom of the window. Tried Goo Gone and that stuff just smears it. One day my wife says "Why don't you take this glue off your windows?" I said "Have at it." She goes inside, gets a bottle of 409 and starts spraying it. I said "That won't take it off." She said "Why not?" and wiped the stuff right off.
So, I guess the point of my ramble was try 409 on the glue. I'll try the soap trick on mine, thanks!
In addition to using a spray solution of soapy water I have heard that you should use a piece of trash bag to lay on the wetted window it holds the spray in place longer and allows it to soak longer, 10-15 minutes in the sun is supposed to soften the glue. I have a 79 that I have to do this fall when I redo the interior.
The black plastic is right on. I checked with a professional tinter when I did my 93 Ruby. The spray bottle solution is a mixture of water and ammonia (very little ammonia.) Spray the tint with the solution, cover it with the black plastic (garbage bag) and back the car out in the sun for a half hour or so. The ammonia will cut the adhesive and the film can then be peeled away leaving very little residue if any. The key is ammonia and heat. If the film doesn't release easily, spray it again and repeat the process. I've done 2 Vettes so far and they both turned out great.
