Today I set out to try some of the recommendations here on code 43. I checked the brown wire at the esc for ground_ works great. I checked the blue wire at the knock sensor fo ohms_ not broken. I tried tieghtening the sensor another turn _ I still get the code and service engine light after the engine starts. Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated. This is frustrating as I am preety sure that I am not getting full timing advance.
Late in here-have you replace the knock sensor? because if you've went through the entire diagnostics and all ciruits check out fine-it's either the knock sensor or the ESC module. The crazy thing is the thing can pick up false knock signals from ajacent wires-so make sure the wire routing is not comming in contact with ajacent wires. All this is only applicable if you don't actually hear a knock, if you can hear a knock you've got internal problems.Hope this helps.
Even though the ground wire tested good, run another one, like up to the hood latch assy. Clean the spot of good before securing the wire. This is a problem with your particular model. If it doesn't fix it, I'll be surprised. This is one of those trade secrets that Gordon Killebrew talks about.

Yes I replaced the knock sensor and the esc earlier this spring trying to fix the problem. Wayne
Thanks so much for the tip!!!!! I checked the wiring and the brown wire was broken. Also the black wire in the harness going to the esc was broken as well. Fixed them and no more light. And what a power difference!!!! Thanks again Wayne
