Default LT4 Dyno results

Had my stock LT4 dyno tested today;
RW HP 292.9 @ 5,500 rpm
RWT 302.1 @ 4,200 rpm
I would have posted the print-out, but, the "post new thread page" said I could not post attachments.
I am taking it back on Thursday evening (He has a special then $50 for 3 runs) and see if there is any improvement after the new air intake.
How does RWHP translate into engine? or flywheel? HP??
Also is there a rearend gear ratio between the stock ratio and a 4.10 that would enhance the performance a little, but not take too much away from top speed ( like I will really get it over 150mph) or miles per gallon.
I hope everybody is not in Penn. And if they are maybe they have laptops.

I don't know the exact results of top speed by going to 4.10's, but remember maximum speed with the stock 3.45 is reached in 5th gear not 6th gear. 4.10's might actually increase top speed...

Any reduction in gear ratio is going to result in reduced gas mileage, but the 4.10's are not bad......my last trip to Carlisle got me 26-28 mpg on the interstate cruising at 75mph most of the time....I can live with that....every day driving is going to depend on how you drive it, but the 4.10's will make you want to push it a little on every start!!!!

You could look at around 3.73 or 3.92 ratios as alternates...

Regarding hp, a rule of thumb most adhere to is that you lose 15% due to driveline friction. Using 15%, your flywheel hp would be 344 (292hp/0.85) At 12% you'd be at 332 (292/0.88).

For rear gears, you can also look at 3.92s. With 4.10s you can still break 150mph in 5th gear with a basicially stock engine (I wonder how I know this ) 4.10s really don't kill mpg assuming you can keep your foot out of it. Taking it easy I can squeeze 26 out of mine on long trips. I wouldn't go less than 3.92. 3.73s are so close to 3.45s you likely won't notice a difference.

I pulled almost the same numbers on my stock LT4. 298HP/301Tq. I went with the 4.11 gears. Makes the car a lot more fun around town and didn't lose that much in 5th and 6th.

Just curious, why is top speed in 5th not 6th? Obviously I haven't been there!
Looks like gear change in my near future!
Hey Lt4BUD, I see in your profile that you have a SLP induction system, did you open up the upper radiator shroud for cool air?
Is there a problem with water getting sucked up if a hole is cut in the shroud by the filters??

6th is just to much gear for top speed. It's your double overdrive.

Default 4.10's

ZF6/4.10's in fifth gear at 6300 rpms = 156 mph

I have the "triple snorkle" with three K&N elements. It mounts in the same location as the OEM, so you don't cut anyholes, and no water problem.

Performance gains are minimal at best...but looks good to most...

If you are on a budget just open up your OEM housing by cutting out the louvers....free for a couple hours work
