Default Datamaster help needed

I can't get my Pcm to sync with my lap top. I have tried changing the sync timing, disabling handshake, dash refresh and several hundred different settings. After two months, I am about to give up. I also tried new software and re-checked all the computer settings. My pc is a Dell 8100 with windows 2000 professional version. I think my ecm cable is working OK because it passes the comm test and gives the ECM detected communication test passed thing. I am open to any expert assistance I can get. The guy who sold me the cable eliminated the cable and the software. It is getting down to something small, but what could it be ??

I put mine into the 10k diagnostic mode then it syncs up. Then I remove the 10k so its not in the diagnosic mode and start logging. Never read the manual just did it like the moates ecm852 program without having to enter a 1.

I use a AKM cable with my TTS software. And it requires power to it on the 94 and earlier cars and trucks. Does your cable require power? On 95 and up cars using the OBD2 connector power is available at the ALDL port.

I am told it does not require power, that it receives power at the aldl link. However, if it did require power and I wanted to to power the cable, how would you go about it?
