Default door seal question

The carpeting on the door trim panels on my '87 coup gets very wet when it rains. First guess is the door seals though they don't look that bad to me. Sound like a good place to start? I read on the internet that someone recommends installing door seals for a 96-97 instead...something about it being a better seal. Anyone know for sure if that's true or not and if it fits exactly the same? Seems like it fit the same and was better that would be the only one offered to buy. What do you think? Are after market seals ok or should I consider only oem gm? Your thoughts and experiences would be appreciated. Thanks.

My 87 was doing the same thing (wet) I went to Chevy dealer and ordered-thought I was getting OEM-when they came in the box said made in China.Of course I paid almost double what Eklers or Mid America ask. Soooo-I would go with after market next time, except for the windshield-the OEM windshield gasket is much softer than an after market.
