Default 315 up front

Has anyone run 17x11 with 315's up front can it be done? Does it look good or stupid? Does it help a lot with handling? I have GS rims and was looking at the car tonight and wondering what it would be like to have that much tire up front. Just wondering anyone?

I have read here on the Forum that Corvette went to a narrower tire in front one year to help prevent wandering. It seems that a wide tire in front will "hunt" on some grooved roads or roads that have "truck ruts" in them.

I would imagine you would have to find a rim, with a specific offset for the tires to not stick out... I know that 89's still have same width all around... What year is yours?

I have a 95 6spd but I put the GS rims and tires on about 3 months ago and havnt looked back. These things are badass and the view from the rear is sick. Or so I hear

The C4 autocrossers do this all the time. They use the GS offset 11" wheels, there might be some rubbing at extreme lock, but otherwise works fine. As for the look and the street manners, I don't have a clue.

Putting the 11's or 315's on the front is a bad idea.

The 315s in the front don't cause me any problems unless the road is very grooved, then they "climb" like all-get-out. i don't know about the fit or offset because mine are on 9.5 in. stock wheels ('90 coupe). the only time I ever had them rub was on the outer portion of the upper fenderwell (hood) but that was just before I replaced my shocks. hasn't done it since. i wouldn't recommend the the 9.5s, but they fit fine. you can't see them very well, but that's them in my avatar. My profile has another shot of my car.

I had 315 40s all the way around and they do throw the car over the road in grooves and 2 tracked pavement. My fronts also rubbed the hood a tad, but I could never hear any sound, so I don't know if it was from turning or road bumps. Car handles and rides much better with the stock rims and stock size tires now. Also asthetically, the tires stuck out too far from the wheel well. Looked like F1 tires crammed in there. Cool look from certain angles, but it looks a little cleaner now. I did get some compliments on them though, so you may like the look.

I just have them up front purely for cosmetics. They look killer. I can't speak for at-the-limit handling because i don't do any REAL aggressive driving with them mounted on the 9.5s. They do great on sweeping curves but i would go with the 11 in. rim before I pushed it hard (autoX or over 100mph).

I have 11' 315's all the way around and I love them! No rubbing and they look mean as hell! BTW I have AFS A-mold rims.

I've only had my 94 for a few days now, but I've already noticed with the 275's all round (Z07) she has a tendency to "track" in the ruts. I have been considering going to a smaller front tire in the front to counter this. Not nearly as agressive looking but will it track better? And if so what do you all think of 255's on the front? To small for the 9.5's wheels? Or is the problem just with the type of tires I have (Goodyear GSC's)? Don't mean to hijack the thread, sorry.

I have 315's in the back, but personally I think it would look rediculous up front, but thats just me...
