Default Installed Delteq now problem missing

Hi,

I just installed the Delteq set up on my 1992. Very easy to install. The problem I am having is that its missing. It feels and sounds as if I have a spark plug wire crossed. I checked the firing order several times and they are right. I checked the coils and they are all firing. The plugs are new. The led light on the opti box does stay on while running, however it seems to get brighter or dimmer. It does not blink on and off.

Delteq tech support is great. However, as this is Labor Day weekend I will not be able to contact them.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

As always thanks!!!

Steven

How does it interface with the opti? Make sure you have every little thing done as far as the opti interface and the disconnection of the old coil.

did you make your wires? you might have a poor one.

Did you buy the Northstar coil-pak from Delteq or from another source?

The labels for the cylinder numbers from Delteq are different than the labels from GM -- the reason: the Northstar has a different firing order than the LT1/LT4.
If you wired the spark plugs on your LT1 by the Northstar labels, you will have the wrong firing order.

Bogus / Tom,

I am pretty sure I have everything connected correctly. I purchased the complete kit with the coils and wires. I used the labels from Delteq for the firing order. It does seem as the 2 straight boot wires (cylinders 6 & 8) dont fit as tight on the plugs as the other wires.

Bogus, when you say interface with the opti do you mean the wiring or if the opti is in-sync with the Delteq?

Thanks for your help!!!

Pete at Delteq lives in Virginia. You might look up Pete Visser on www.switchboard.com in the area of the mailing address for Delteq. Pete is a great guy and took the time to help me over Independence day. So....give him a try. ( I cant find his numbers, sorry)

Ericcer I emailed you. (Good luck with the storm).

Pony Express driver-thanks but I feel funny calling him on a private number. I should of asked him for it when I ordered it.

Besides the plug wires, verify that the remainder of the wiring harness is connected correctly between the DelTeq ignition module and the coil "plate". As I recall, two of the connectors are identical and it would be very easy to reverse them. Lastly, I seem to recall the '92 had a unique jumper/plug that had to be installed. Verify if that is required and verify it's in place if appropriate.

96GS#007,

I just checked all the wiring again (plugs and harness) all is connected correctly.

Two things I noticed: (1) when I ohmed out the sparkplug wires 2 are showing 20 ohms.

(2) the LED light (as per manual) should blink once with ign key on then go out. Mine is staying on.

Thanks for you help!!!
