About two weeks ago, my car started to have problems starting. I would turn the key, and all I would hear would be a "click" coming from the starter. Tried it again, and it would work perfectly fine.
The next time starting the car, it took 2 or 3 "clicks" before the car would start. Over the course of a couple weeks, it took longer and longer to get it to start.
This same thing happened about 9 months ago. To fix it, all I had to do was clean out the connections to and from the starter. I just got under there right now, and didn't see a problem with this.
So what could be causing the problems? Is it time for a new starter or solenoid? The only problem is that there are two big bolts (one to the tranny cooler and one somewhere else) that are completely stuck and won't come out. It looks like I may have to take it to somebody to get the starter out, but what exactly could this problem be?
These are classic symptoms of a poor battery cable connection. Remove your battery cables (negative first) and clean the cable lugs and the battery posts until they are bright and clean and reconnect your battery cables (negative last). See if this helps, as there are several other reasons for, "clicking", but no cranking.
