Default Which Bullet Cats with EM Long Tubes?

I wanted to just purchase Exotic Muscle's cats, they won't be ready. I guess I'll take my Vette to a local exhaust shop and have them hook up my EM headers with my Corsa.

Which bullet cats work? I see JEGs has some Dynatech bullet cats, 3"/3" in/out, 11" long. Will these work?

They'll work fine w/o a doubt. But depending on their dimensions you may or may not be able to put them on the sides of the tranny. If necessary, you may have to locate them beyond the trans. as we automatic guys generally have to do. Any good exhaust shop should be able to evaluate and fit to your set-up.

They're 4" diameter, think they'll fit next to the tranny?

The Dynatech Powercats are the cats I'm using with my EM headers. The are a high quality cat at a discount price. And they will slide right onto your header collectors.

So did you installed the headers, slide the cats on, 3"/2.5" then reducers and finally bent some 2.5" pipe to meet up with your catback?

Yes, but I had the cat back tubes altered so the mandral bends would be intact.

Default Narrrowing Cat-Back tubes.

FYI: The installed EM headers were narrower than my Flowmaster cat-back. So, I had sections of the cat-back tubes removed and rewelded to narrow the spacing of the tubes. This way I could reuse the mandral bends of the cat-back.

I have a Corsa. I was going to hook up to it at the resonator.

What did you do to reduce the diameter from 3" on the headers to 2.5" on your catback?

Midas fabricated some 3"-2.5" cats to cat-back extensions.

I have Car Sound 3" high flow cats on my EM long tubes going to my B&B 3" catback system (with XPipe). CarSound cats were much cheaper and work perfectly and fit , though one had to be rotated a bit . Speed Demon Motorsports here did the install a couple of years ago......

Are Dynatech cats street Legal? That is why I was thinking about using either catco or Random Tech convertors...

Street legal in what sense?

FWIW, the Dyantech cats cut my HC emissions from 1260ppm to 74ppm, so they do indeed work well!

I'm battling heat right now though: my cats are behind the trans, pretty much where the stock resonator was, and they were cooking my console.

I installed some Thermo-Tec exhaust clamp-on heat shield, and they smoked hugely and disintegrated, so they're garbage as far as using them on cats.

Dave I have had my RT bullet cats in the tunnel for over a year now without problems. I am rather surprised that you are getting so much heat build up there. Are you having fuel issues that could possibly be causing this kind of heat? I am not even running any heat shielding at all, as you can see in the picture below.

The dyna techs are not carb certified... I would hope that atleast if I had a carb certified cat, I might pass a visual inspection here in CT...

I had Exotic Muscle do all the work for me and they installed Random Tech cats with EM headers and 3" B&B catbacks. I am now living on Top Ramen noodles.

[QUOTE=tjwong]see in the picture below.

tj, Do you have a pic of further up, near your header/ collector area ? Your collector to cat pipes look like nice 3inch mandrell bends. Did you have them fabricated or buy them that way from EM?

Thanks
