Default redface about 'service soon" light

I followed the instructions I received here on the forum on how to disconnect the battery for 30 seconds to make the service soon lite go out after installing a triple snorkle air intake. Well, the light went out ,but when I started it back up the light came on again. So, today at Advance Auto they hooked it up and said the problem was with the emissions system. I had a friend of mine take a look at it and he wanted to know if we had drilled the hole out where the emissions connected to the tube. And NO we had not. I guess some of the earlier models don't have the same emission system and they don't hook up to the air filter so the connection tube is welded on, but there isn't a hole in it. The worst part is the guy who found the problem is a Mustang freak. Needless to say I had a red face!

I don't know if the lt1 or other c4 engines have it , but my lt4 has a hose that connects to the side of the air filter box and goes to a pump in front of the drivers side front wheel well and it is part of the clean air system. On the after-market air intake (SLP triple K&N ) was a connection for this hose but it could not work because there was no hole for the air to flow thru. Once the hole was drilled thru, the light (service soon) stayed off. I don't know, but I would think that some ( or maybe all ) the Lt1s don't have this hose on the side of the air filter box or this hole would have been drilled out by the manufacturer on the after-market part. Hope that makes better sense....??

Im guessing maybe he's talking about drilling a hole for the thermsistor mount for IAT/MAT sensor. Just a guess though.
