Voltage Problems
My friend has a 89 vette that is not putting out enough voltage. The volts stay around 11 when the car is running. This can't be normal because on my 86 the volts stay around 13.6 when running. The battery is new and he had the alternator checked. What else might be causing the problem?

I'm assuming you do NOT have an uderdrive crank pulley.
Check all connections at the alt and at the battery. Then measure voltage at the alt output at idle to see if it agrees with the gauge.
If all is well so far and your new battery is good, the problem is in the alt.

Are you quoting the voltage reading from the vehicle guage? If so, try hooking up a voltmeter and using it to compair voltages between your Vettes. Maybe his guage is just reading low.
If your still concerned, go to Sears and use their Diehard Express lane. They'll do a full system diagnostic test while you watch.
