'93 Vert shows SRC codes 21 & 31. Working through diagnostics I have a question about the shocks. The gears on top of both front shocks will turn (with some resistance) endlessly. They never come to a dead "stop". Does this mean they're broken, or is a slight difference in turning resistance all the actuator looks for to determine the "stop" position? I can't tell for sure from the diagnostic instructions in the GM manual which is supposed to be correct.
It makes the difference between buying an actuator or a shock. The price of either will undoubtedly be "shocking", so I don't want to buy the wrong one. Thanks for any help from experience,

Yes. The gear on the shock for a `93 will only have 90* range of movement. Most likely the "stop" at the bottom of the gear has broken off. That is why they will turn without stopping, and throw a service code to the CCM.
Thanks for the response. I was afraid that was going to be the case, since GM lists replacement shocks at just over $600 each. Any chance of repairing these if a guy is reasonable capable?
Anybody know of a forum sponsor / member who offers a discount worth chasing replacement adjustables - or a source for servicable used units?
You can buy them new from Mid America designs for under $200 apiece. If the gear is broken, bilstein will charge $150 plus shipping per shock to rebuild, so you may as well just buy new.

I believe a 91 has 90 deg range of motion. 92 and up has 160 deg.
