Default Good shift points for an LT4?

I'm taking the 96 to the track tomorrow for a corvette day at the races. Its all for fun and I'm not looking to set the world on fire, but I do want to see what the car can do. Its currently 100% stock.

What's a good leave RPM and what are good shift points? Mind you I only have the stock tach.

Thanks for your input!

Default Try this....

Launch lightly like at 1700 -2000 rpm. Avoid wheel spin it is not your friend. It will depend a lot on the track and tire stick. I try to shift mine at 6000 but I am no longer stock. It is tough to do as the motor revs so quickly. Also turn the ASR off. Try for the best 60' time you can get. Race yourself and not the other car. Don't break anything, good luck, be careful and have fun.

I agree on the launch. Just ease out of there and then nail it. Shift when needle gets to the little red line. Lt4s like rpm, the higher the better.

With right foot planted to the firewall at 6300 rpm, slam that shifter into 2nd(you don't need no stinkin' clutch) and repeat going into 3rd.
Just kidding unless you don't mind picking up the pieces of your ZF6 when your done. But seriously, I do feel that you will extract the most performance by revving to 6300. The rev limiter will prevent you from going any further. I would expect an ET of 13.0 to 13.3 with a trap speed of 106 - 109. Good luck and inform us of your results.

Thanks guys. 6k was about what I expected to hear. It seems to work pretty well when I play on the street.

I've been to the track half a dozen times but never in this car. It should be fun.

I'll report back next week.

I ran my stock one to the fuel cut...or actually as close to it as possible without triggering it (6400 rpm is fuel cut) and went thru the lights in third.

If it is a good run you will be 110 mph on the limiter in third.

I only ran a best of 13.24 completely stock with GSC's, but others have gone as well as 12.76's...!

Seriously, shifting into fourth will slow you down...
