Want to put ZO6 wheels on my 86. If I'm converting these offsets correctly, the ZO6 is roughly 54mm offset on the front, 56mm on the rear. My 86 is 38mm front and rear. In converting the difference between the ZO6 and my stock wheels from metric to standard it would appear that I need a 3/4 in spacer for the ZO6 front and a 1 inch spacer for the rear. Am I doing this correctly?
Thanks

I went through this dilemma with my '87 and opted to buy the AFS wheels with the correct offset. There are a lot of guys on here who will chime in and say they have had no problems running wheel spacers, but I personally don't like them. Once you have a wheel fall off because of a wheel spacer you change your mind real quick.
I would get wheels withe the correct spacing. unfortunately, owning an '84-'87, you otions here are limited.
Not sure for your year and the wheel you're trying to mount. I know I use 1 1/8" spacers all the around on my '87 with 97-98 chromed rims. The wheels sit flush with the outer edge of the wheel well (see sig below).
As far as using the spacers, mounted correctly, they shouldn't give you any problem. I've had mine on for over 4 years. The cars been driven cross-country (Salt Lake to Bowling Green an back), taken into triple digits on more then one occassion, driven hard through windy, mountain roads, and taken down the 1/4 mile more then once -- absolutely no problems with them.

I'm not aware of any Z06 wheels with the early offset.........at least the 18 inchers. I had some ZR1's with the proper offset on my '87 (see sig), but I had to go with 1.25" spacers on my current setup which are 18" Z06s. That stuff about wheels falling off is a bit outrageous
When the wheel fell off my car (not my Corvette) it definitely was outrageous.
Like I said, it's just my $.02.
Yikes, I guess so.
ddonzella, thanks If I did it over again I would've used 1 inchers because the tires are about a quarter inch outside the wheelwells with 1.25s. There are spacers and there are spacers on the market. Like it was mentioned above, hubcentric is the way to go Avoid an el cheapo part and you'll be OK................. I've used spacers off and on for 40 years or so and have never had a problem. Good luck!
Beyond a 1/4" spacer, I would only use a hubcentric spacer. With them you remove the majority of the weight and wheel shock off of the wheel studs and back to the protruding hub. Studs are not designed for anything but tension (pull) loads. Hit an object, such as a curb, at speed and you will find out. I've witnessed a number of wheels breaking studs at auto-x events due to spacers. I wouldn't knowingly ride at high speeds in cars without hubcentric spacers, or possibly spacers at all for that matter.
