Default LT4 Hot cam kit?

Ok i have a 1996 auto lt1
full length hedmans
muffler elims
k and n
52 mm tb

Would the Hotcam kit be the ideal cam for me? considering it comes with 1.6 rockers and all that good stuff.
would the rockers fit under my valve covers?
would i need to get different lifters and pushrods?
I know on some cars you can remove the radiator and put the cam in.
would I have to take the engine out to do this? how big of a job is that?

finally
What else would I need to maximize and make this kit work? new timing set?
thanks so so much guys

The hot cam is a excellent choice. The valve covers will work, you just have to cut off the drip tabs inside the covers. You can convert to a electric water pump and then use a standard double roller timing chain. The savings in the standard chain verses the LT4 extreme duty chain will pay for the electric pump. You can do the cam in the car by removing the radiator and then taking loose the motor mounts and placing a jack under the motor and raising it a inch or two. I reused my pushrods and lifters. As far as maximizing this job, it would be a good time to get the heads ported and larger valves installed. A set of impalla head gaskets are .020 thinner thus raising the compression a little. Also you didnt mention if this was a auto or stick car. Gears always help with a bigger cam and if it is a auto a little more stall in the converter dept would be good.

You can't do this on a 96 due to the crank sensor reluctor ring on the nose of the crank. Use the LT4 extreem chain. It is very good. But you can still use a electric pump if you wanted to. I still don't trust them but that is just me.

He list it as a auto... and I had a Hot cam in 2 M6 cars with 4:10s. I think with a auto and stock gears it may be a bit doggy down low unless you go with a little more gear or a higher stall converter.

96 valve covers will work without MODDING. I put 1.6 RR in mine and didn't have to do anything to the valve covers. Saving for the Hot Cam and Extreme Duty Chain and TunerCat ODB2 software to tune it. I just put in the LT4 injectors last night Cruzin did the cleaning on them they worked great..

My mechanic installed my Hot Cam Kit during my engine replacement. No mods needed to valve covers...everything you have already will be fine. Good luck!

Man, I missed the boat on this one. Sorry for the bad advise. I was advising not knowing that there was that many changes from 93 to 96. And the part about the auto I completely missed. Still think the cam is a excellent choice, getting the heads reworked at this time is a good idea, a converter and gears, expecially if you have 2.59 in there now would help a lot.
However, even with the above said I would put the gears in first (again expecially if you have the 2.59 gears), then the converter, and after that start on engine work.
