L98 long tubes

No longtubes are "fun" to put on.
You will need gaskets. I recommend Percy's deadsoft aluminum for the header gaskets, and Mr. Gasket copper collector gaskets.
Unfortunately I have not installed a set myself, but the people that I know that have installed Hookers have had very few problems
I have full length hedman headers
you can get those from summit for like 150
then www.procryo.com they are a local shop and they ceramic coated my headers for 150
jet hot wants 250 plus ship....
shorty are not worth it!!!!
but hedman only comes with 1 and 5/8 not 1 and 3/4 primary tubing.
Great price. I have ARP double plated copper gaskets and arp bolts.
you will have to get an 02 bung in the header b4 its ceramic coated!
You also dont have holes for the EGR system...which I removed(the rear of my intake needed a plate on it which i got from tpis.com) and then you throw code 32 which you can ignore or edit out....Im going to get lt1 edit.
Or ski_dwn_it can burn a chip to do that for you since you are l98.
No matter what full length headers take a good 7 hrs with the right tools.
I'd say its a weekends work and its best to have a friend.
also I cut my pipes and had a local shop weld them in!!!!
Anymore q's feel free to ask.

good luck

Thanks to that jackass! oh well. I got them ceramic coated.
And I need to put 02 bungs in each one. Will they fit on my 1996 auto lt1?
Are the O2 sensors to the front and back of the stock collectors the front and rear 02 sensors?
And the rear ones can be edited out or use 02 stims on?
thanks
Sean
Thanks,
Daniel
Most of time was spent on REMOVING items needed to help with the install. I removed the 2 cross braces under the car, remove the alternator, remove the starter, remove the AC compressor, remove a couple of the heat shields, remove 1 Tranny bolt (it was holding some wiring harness), remove all the spark plugs, and remove the passenger side motor mount bolt (flip this around on install).
Once this was done, Both headers slipped into place in 5 minutes. I had the car up on jackstands about 2 feet. What more could you ask for ? All bolts holes lined up perfectly. I then started a couple of the bolts to just hold the headers in place and check the fit.
The next few hours were spent on putting all the items I removed back where they belong. The passenger side header bolts are a little tough to work on , but ½ hour later , they are all in. You need the correct tools to help get the job done.
The last 2 hours were spent on the Y pipe and Catback exhaust.
Hope this helps.
