Default 86 Security system blues

So apparently at random time and places my security system activates - the horn starts honking and the door lock (we had a driver call us from his cell phone because he was trapped in the car at the timing tent!).

I just want to get rid of it - Disconect it. But what are the problems associated with that? Does the fuel pump shut down or other hidden gottchas? I don't care about the horn - it sucks anyway - Ill put an electric agoogaa horn on it - but how do I disable the security system and keep the car running.

Someone said I could pull a fuse and be done with it - is this true - and if so - where do I find the fuse!

Carl, You can disable the security system by removing the 10 Amp fuse that is located behind the radio. Just remove the facia and then you can access it. This fuse is NOT located in the regular fuse box and I guess it's to make it hard for a thief to find/get to. You will be able to drive the car , but your power door locks and horn will not operate. Of course , you will be able to manually lock and unlock the doors. This system is separate from the Vats so the ignition/ fuel pump is not involved.
I had a similar problem with my power door locks, locking and unlocking randomly. It turned out to be a shorted door lock switch.
I suggest that you fix what is wrong . It's not that difficult to trace out the system using the service manual.
