Interesting Discussion with GM engineer...
So we got on the topic and started to share some stories etc and we came back to my office where I showed him some videos etc of the car (vette). He was estatic that fully equipped vette would go like that.
We got on the tuning subject and he asked what Aftermarket ECM I was running. Mind you he worked for several years in the dyno rooms of GM, working with several if not all the ECMs our cars had.
When I said stock, he gave me a goofy look and I explained that I tune many setups, etc. He asked if I wanted a job at GM.
Which I politely turned down.
Anyways one of him comments which I had to laugh out loud at was, when he said, " That MAP system is one of the worst things that GM EVER designed!" I promptly grabbed my notepad and handed him a pencil and asked for that in writing. Which he laughed off.
He said it was a nightmare to get straightened out in the dyno labs and caused near miss launches on several engine platforms.
I told him about all the discussions we have had on this board and others and he said "The MAF system is still of the toughest to beat, and most accurate systems bar-none." Again I asked for it in writing.
I explained the hang-up of the 255g/sec and explained my viewpoint of when dealing with big inch motors like mine or even a 383 that will max the sensor you don't need alot of throttle in street applications so you hardly every encounter the 255g/sec - hence its not a big deal. He agreed 100% with me that I was exactly correct and that it should not be a problem and finished with all the WOT stuff should be adjusted with PE enrichement and MAF is out of the picture at that point anyways. So why do people feel the need to have over 255g/sec resolution?
It was a very neat and unexpected conversation. At the end he again asked if I wanted a job, but I just laughed it off and told him it would be too far from Beaver Springs and I need my weekend racing.
Thought I would share the conversation with you all and I am not knocking SD, hell that is what I am running right now on my car, although its from being lazy and having hopes of trying the 4v throttle body - more than it is a performance edge.

Hope that storm didn't bother you. Seems to have romped PA.
BTW I'd rather have the input here. If you worked for GM they prolly won't let you share info here. Did you tell them they can always come here to learn how their system work.
