My 90 coupe has a problem with resonance, I would like to get rid of the problem. Ecklers claims that this pipe will take care of it. Does anyone know if it is any good? Any other suggestions?

Ask Eckler's if they will money-back-guarantee that Y will eliminate the resonance.
I've seen this pipe in the catalog and can't figure out the purpose of the 'connector' tube, since the pipes were already connected to each other (one pipe) just two feet prior....how many times do you need to merge the exhaust??
I wouldn't get my hopes up.
I have that same pipe. It made no difference with the LT1 Turbo Mufflers that I had on. Two weeks ago I installed Flowmaster 50s. The
resonance is still there but they sound much better than the LT1s.
Extending the tips out passed the end of the bumper helps quite a bit also
I have the same pipe with 40 series flomasters, had big problem with resonance I found that positioning the tips out farther made the biggest difference.
I ordered one and sent it back w/o installing. Didn't like the way the two 2 1/4" exhausts were welded to the 3" pipe (when looking into 3" pipe inlet), poor cut/weld job looked very restrictive and I thought the pipe would rust badly. I was also wary of how the thru-holes at the crossover pipe looked (too small? ineffective? no way to inspect...) Ended up ordering a stainless Y-pipe from Penn-Ohio for about the same price w/o the crossover and the quality and fit were great. It helped my resonance problem (have Borla mufflers) as my original pipe was rusted through at the weld seam, mostly at the RH exhaust. I even asked if they could make a crossover but they're only setup for making them stock. I thought that I would have someone weld on the crossover (use stainless pipe, cut the holes myself beforehand) but the exhaust sounds fine. I've read good reviews about adding an X-pipe to something like a C5 where there are true duals to begin with and I'm skeptical of the value of adding crossover a foot or so downstream of a single cat.
I installed one on my '86 with no change in the level of resonance. I tried three different systems (cat back) and still could not get rid of the dreaded resonance. Finally I had my local shop install eliminators.......no more resonance, and a great sound. I'm running the stock pre cats and the stock main cat, with the rear Y crossover you're looking at. Hope this helps.
I had that y-pipe on my '90 and just changed to a Magnaflow cat-back system. Much better. I didn't like the pipe as the crossover is welded to the bottom side of the y-pipe and seems to hang much lower than the stock y-pipe I replaced. I tried everything short of heating and bending the y-pipe up to get it to sit higher. The Magnaflow system fits much better and I like the sound much better. I had the ZR-1 type replica mufflers, if you can call them that, that I installed at the same time as I put that crossover y-pipe on.

You can install a LT1 Corsa system under your 90 using hangers from a 94 and up LT1 car. An exhaust shop would have to make the connections up from to the manifolds or headers but from there back its a peice of cake to install. I installed a 3" LT1 B&B system under a 89 6SPD car not long ago using late model hangers and the system went in like it was made for it.
I built my own crossover for a couple of dollars. First I spray painted the "Y" section of pipe with spray paint and ran the engine. Where the paint burns off first is the "hot spot" and this is where you should place the crossover. I then took off the exhaust, used a piece of 3" pipe that I flattened into an oval. I then custom fitted this to the exhaust. When I had this fitted, I marked the original pipes and used a plasma torch to cut out the oval. I then used a die grinder to finish these holes to the maximum size. I then welded in the crossover section. Most muffler shops including the the OEM crossover from Chevy will only cut or burn in a 1" hole. Did this solve all of the resonance problem....NO but it did help. Other threads on this subject have indicated using masking tape (or paint) on the exhast pipe before and after the cat to look for other "hot spots". The suggestion was to place 3" mufflers at these spots. The length of the mufflers was never mentioned. The logic was to eliminate the sound build up. There was also a suggestion to hit this area with a hammer to create a dimple to change the sound waves. These solutions were helpful in the reduction of resonance according to the posts. I have been toying with the idea to find these hot spots and cut out a small 2-3" section of the pipe and weld in a 3" OD pipe the size of the section that was cut out to see if this helps eliminate the problem.

When I bought my '86, it had the exhaust crossover you pictured, with cheap 'Monza'style mufflers. The resonance was very limited, although the sound was lousy. I had it all replaced with Power Effects, and a high-flow cat. Resonance was bad. I bought a new stock cat, and that helped some on the resonance. Another '86 owner, with an identical setup, once mentioned on CF that he had the same problem with resonance, and when he replace the intake runners with large tube runners, the resonance went away (he claimed it was the only change he made, so it was easy to identify). So there may be different ways to attack the problem. But I do think the crossover tube would help. Several previous CF posts said the crossover helped.
The previous owner of my 90 put that same rear Y system on it. Someone cut off the pre-cats and welded in straight pipe and put aftermarket mufflers on it too. Resonnance is terrible. I don't know if it would be louder with the stock rear Y or not because it is hard to believe it could be any worse.
I have a Flowmaster cat back system on my 90 vert.
NO resonance.

I just had a new exhaust system installed on my '84 which had terrible resonance. New dual flow cat into Flowmaster 40's and extended tip for nice turndowns. Did not use a separate cross over as cat is open on inside. No Resonance now.
Good Luck.
