Default Service LTPWS

I confused my LTPWS, or mildly brainwashed it
For the entire summer, I had my race tires on, so no sensors. eventually the service LTPWS light came on, and stayed on.

Now I got my regular tires back on, (with the sensors) however here's the kicker.
every time I start the car, the service LTPWS is on. it goes out after about 1 mile of driving.
Next time I get in the car, light is on again... until I drive about 1 mile. then it shuts off. so it's now assuming there are NO sensors every key cycle, until I drive a short distance.

where as when the race tires went on early in the season, the service LTPWS light didn't come on for about 100 or 200 miles. so it WAS assuming the sensors were always there, until it didn't read them for about 100 miles.

did I confuse it ???? certainly seems to have a learn mode like the ECM.

GM LTPWS is pretty much crap. Much like its PKE system and CCM.

I gave up on the LTPWS after 2 sensor replacements and PKE after 2 remote replacements (one used, one new).

It's like the F45.... wears out and then is dead (who wants to replace shocks for $1200?).

Live with the light or disassemble the middle console and pull the light. The only way to disable the light (without pulling it) is to pull a fuse.... which is conveniently tied to cruise control (bastards!).

Love and hate GM.... good engineers.. crappy bean counters.

Plus the receiver is susceptible to interference. I can't tell you how many times I've driven past a cell phone tower and had mine go off.

Try disconnecting and reconnecting the battery. The early systems were subcontracted to Epic Technologies a spinoff of Clevite Imperial. As far as I can tell, they went bellyup. Don't know who makes the later years, but the quality, supposedly, is much better.

I think if you clear the code (short out the pins under the dash - driver side obd conn) it'll be fine. Look up the pin #'s in the SM. Mine did the same

A quick google search informed me that EPIC technologies was bought out in 1996 by SmarTire.

Thanks for link - I've been looking for them hoping to find a new receiver (or something to substitute for the one I've got).
