goofy idle speed
hi everyone. say, i have a '89 coupe, auto trans, and something is odd with the idle. i noticed one day, on a flat road and no foot on the gas, that my road speed was more than what i thought it should be. i popped it into neutral and it was idling around 1300. then, a second or two after i came to a full, 100% stop, the idle went to 700. jabbing the gas pedal doesn't make any difference. this still happens, regardless of engine or outside air temps and happens pretty much all the time. any ideas?? thanks for your time

Hi,
One thing to check is the Idle Air Control Valve (IAC). If you have that Exhaust Gas Recerc.(EGR) gas transfer tube from your exhaust header to your intake manifold then you should check that too.
