Default rocker arm??????

I have an 85 model all stock. A buddy gave me a set of crower rockers that are 1.5 and 1.6 ratio. I wanted to go with all 1.6 but these ar free. Will i see any advantage with the split ratio? Should i run the 1.6 on the intake or exhaust? I have headers and dual 2.5 into flowmasters and a 2200 stall. thanks

yes, they are roller, but after looking at them earlier i found out they are for a 7/16 stud and i think my stock heads have 3/8 pressed in studs so i cant use them. I'll keep em in th garage till i can afford heads.

TPIS found that the split ratio (1.6/1.5=int/exh) gave the best power with best idle on an '85 Vette. When they put 1.6s on the exhaust there was no power increase but idle quality degraded. However, I've put 1.6s on both int & exh of my '88 #113 Al heads and idle is even smoother than with stock rockers.

To put 1.6s on the intake of your stock heads you might need to have the guide slots machined so that they don't interfere with the rockers.

Indeed your rocker studs are pressed-in so, if you have 7/16" RRs, you will need to have the stock studs pulled and the holes tapped to install new studs.

Also, check the RRs to see if they are self-aligning. Look for little "ears" on either side of the roller tip. If not you will need hardened buide plates under the studs as well as hardened push rods.

BTW, you could get some nice power gains from having your stock iron heads worked, which would be nice if you can do the pocket porting.

I'm thinking about installing 1.6's on my '84. Maybe.
