Hi guys. I've replaced my 85 L98 with a low miles 89 L98. It has Edelbrock alum heads and base TPI intake, Comp roller cam and lifters. roller rockers (1.5's), K&N air, Headman hedders, dual exhaust, no cats. 700 R4 tranny with Transgo. As you all know the L98 makes great low end torque but runs out of breath at about 4500 rpm. Well after these mods mine is much better, pulling strong to 5500 rpm. I left the stock runners and injectors on the motor. I was told the stock runners and throttle body would handle my HP range easily and keep my low end torque. I haven't pull a quarter mile time yet but my car with me in it weighs 3520 lbs, 285 of that is me. Diet time! Anyway my 0-60 mph is 4.9 secs with me driving the car. She pulls hard! My question is should I try more fuel pressure and bigger injectors now? If I were running lean wouldn't I get a code. I just want to be safe and not torch this engine. Iv'e done that before. Just a little nervous! It also has the stock ECM and chip. What should I do next? Thanks, Troy
If your injectors and pump are in good shape you will be fine. I have a 383 with all the bells and whistles and run 24lb injectors. I have been doing this for 10 years with no problems and the car runs strong. I also run stock programming with no real issues. I am considering putting the stock 22 lbs injectors back as an experiment. Car runs rich!
No data for me. Thousands of 1/4 mile passes and 255k. That and the black smoke is all I need. I have monitored the block learn and intergrater from time to time but no real data.
