Default Low Coolant Light

Low Coolant light comes on from time to time on my 89'. Replaced the water pump and the radiator. Still has liquid in reserve tank and the radiator seems to be full. Any thoughts. This is driving me nuts.

Iam not familiar with a 89 radiator but I had the same problem with my 86 Pace car. On the upper right side of the radiator there is a "level"
sensor that is in the side of the rad. I tapped on mine and the lite has been off since. Hope this helps.

Yes, definitely check the connector for the level sensor, which is right below the cap on the radiator. Mine has an intermittant fault and lights the coolant light until I wiggle the contacts...

Try bleeding the system. Open the radiator cap when the engine is off and cool. Start the car, and let it run til it gets past the thermostat opening point (195* on a stock L98) and you should see the coolant level in the radiator drop down as it goes into the block. Then you can open the throttle a bit with one hand, fill the radiator all the way back up, screw on the cap and let the throttle close...this will bleed the air out of the system. You might have to do it 2 or 3 times before you get rid of all the air. This cleared up my low coolant light. Hope this helps
