Brake problem
The brake pedal on the 84 goes almost to the floor and in testing it in the driveway, I notice that the brakes take longer to bite than normal. I can't find evidence of leaks and the reservoirs are full.
Does this sound like the master cylinder or should I try a bleed first?

Yes, it sounds like Master Cylinder
Specifically it sounds like wear in the bore is allowing brake fluid to flow around the piston when the pedal is depressed.
Rebuilt Master Cylinders are a cheaper, quick fix, but if you can afford new, go for it. A rebuilt MC can't put metal back in the worn piston area.
