ZF6 Tranny Question

I have seen some NEW ZF6 trannies on ebay for around $2000-$2500, but they say they are for ZR1's LT1's and LT4's and stuff.
My question is: Is this the SAME transmission as in my '89? or is the ZF6 different for the other cars?
I will most likely be purchasing a new one or rebuilding the old one in the next year, but I am starting to shop now.
The main diffrence between the black tag and Blue tag is Black is rated at 450ftlbs and the blue is at 400ftlbs.
ZF docs and white racing charge about 2500 for a basic rebuild. The main reason is because the only company that makes bearings for our trans is ZF they charge $700 for just the bearings! that doesent include syncros, gears, shafts or shift forks if needed.
If you can find a new trans for $2,000. you are way ahead!
If you want a seriously beefed up gear box ZF doc's will cryo all the parts and weld 2nd gear to the shaft. A very stout box.
By the way I bought a Brand new ZF this past July for $1600.

I bought a new one from them in April. They advertise $2800 now in some mags.

Larry,
I tried to send you the article on 4+3 conversion.
Did you receive any of it?
To go through a working ZF S6-40 would be:
Labor - $900
Rebuild kit - $100
Synchronizer Kit - $500
Bearing Kit (if needed) - $600
Misc. shifter components - $75 to $250 if adding a short-shift lever
Additional parts may be required upon internal inspection of transmission (this is the part that usually shocks the customer the most).

Hey Bill:
If I got to the ZF, can it handle 405RWTQ and what else is needed to do the swap, can I use my flywheel etc?

Hi Larry,
Sorry it took so long to reply, been very busy lately which is a good thing.
GM is clearing out the last of their ZF S6-40 transmissions from inventory.
If you are at all serious about converting over to the ZF S6-40, I strongly recommend that you contact your local GM Parts
Department and purchase one of these transmissions a.s.a.p. P/N 12455189 (ZF S6-40 540Nm).
It has been 4 weeks since the GM’s clearance price sale began and from what I’ve heard, there are currently less than 70 of 400 units left in stock.
GM is selling these units to the dealer for an incredibly low price of $1800 new complete with shifter. That is $2800 less than what they normally sell for.
Converting your 4+3 to a ZF S6-40 is the best way to go.
