I've started jotting down stuff for my 85 to 86 exhaust change over. I'm going with longtube headers so I'd rather avoid muffler eliminators for fear of amazing loudness unless I'm wrong of course. I have flowmasters on now, it wasnt a cat back system, just mufflers, not sure if I want to stick with them.
What kind of cat back systems do you all recommend?
I'm swaying between...
Borla Stinger SS cat back exhaust $600
or
B & B Triflow SS cat back exhaust $700
Anyone know where to buy these cheaper other than the expensive catalog companies?
Also about catalytic converters, I found a cheap online site for a stock replacement for $123 @ www.catalyticonverters.com any good?
The Power Effects exhaust is a great setup on the L98. Since its tunable, you can adjust your exhaust note from a little louder than stock (all the way closed) to a very deep rumble (all open). It sounds good without longtubes, better with longtubes and pretty insane on a stroker. The systems were around $750 from http://www.powereffects.com/. The long term longevity is good as I've had mine since roughly 1999 with no problems.
The B&Bs are a nice system, but they are very loud. I had the same Flowmasters that you had prior to the PE system on my car and there's a huge difference.
I don't particularly care for Borla myself, so can't really offer an opinion.
i'm just quoting the cat back system,$166 no mufflers, with muffler eliminators, and installation at a muffler shop add about $150 , unless you have to have the stinger tips, like in your picture<
Only bad thing is PE is having product problems. They are nice, seems they are always unavailable.
Good thing you mentioned that about B&B, I dont want extremely loud. Dont want to wake everybody up in the neighborhood, LOL
And like I said before w/o mufflers I'm afraid its going to be too loud with headers. I prefer a full stainless steel cat back solution... ah decisions, decisions...
ladyvetter on ebay sold me my muffler elims
$170 including ship and you keep the stock exhaust look!
they def kick *** sound great too and at a fraction of the cost!
