84 with dash, odometer & 24 code problems
My 84 digital dash and odometer stopped working about the same time. My dash flickered a little on start up (like it was going crazy) and then it would go out. Now it doesn't come on at all. My odometer also doesn't work. I pulled a 24 code from the computer which says it's Vehicle Speed Sensor. I looked in Haynes Repair and I'm not sure where it is or how to fix it. Could this be the cause of the dash and odometer not working or something else? Also the check engine light only comes on when you're driving about 5 minutes.

If you followed the trouble shooting charts in a Helms, you would see that one of the causes for a code 24, is a bad IP. The VSS is incorporated into the IP. Since you are having IP problems, it would be MY guess, that is the cause. You may have a bad IP, or just some bad connections. I'm new at this so what is a IP and are you saying you think that is the cause for my odometer and digital dash not working? I checked the two grounds to the dash and they were both good (hoped that was the problem for the dash not working). Thanks for responding
