I have the parts on order for an upper ball joint change. I also need to change the right side uppper control arm and right side knuckle. Will I have to pull the whole assembly on the right side to change the knuckle (pull the lower ball joint also to get this done?)? Do I need any special puller for the upper ball joints or is it just drill it out and reinstall? The lowers were done at an alignment shop this sping so I don't have any experience with those. I have some time (about a week) to get this finished and then take it in for another alignment when done. Thanks for any help.
Lower joint is not too tight in the knuckle, I used a gear puller to push the lower joint out - not a problem.
On the uppers, you *should* be able to drill off the rivet tops and then punch them out. You might end up drilling them all the way out. I had to use quite a bit of force due to corrosion, but once the rivets are gone, the joint falls right out.
