I'm thinking about replacing the seal at the base of the windshield- where it meets the dash pad, it's cracked and deformed so bad that it's an eyesore. It's a $9.00 piece at the local dealer, $4.00 GMPARTSDIRECT. I'm wondering if the price is misleading the amount of effort involved, so question is: is this an easy fix and does anyone have any tips on doing it?

My '87 doesn't have one.... but I just wanted to say you should see what www.gmpartsdirect.com is going to charge you on shipping. I've priced out things that cost $2.00 there, and they want $10 shipping. THAT is where they make their money.

Thanks Scorp I'll get it locally if I don't buy other parts (enough to warrant the shipping). Be glad yours doesn't have one cause they get uuuuugleey!

Not sure if it can be done with w/s in. I had my w/s replaced a month or so ago and I bought this strip cause mine was all cracked & screwed up and had them replace it when they did the w/s. I looked at it for a year till a rock introduced itself to the windshield.

I just had my windshield replaced and the
foam strip you are talking about is glued to
the frame at the base of the glass. I was
told the windshield must be out for replacement.

I don't know about Scorp's '87 but my '86 does have one. I replaced it a couple of years ago for the same reason JT wants to replace his. The dash pad had to come out which is easy on the early C4, but is probably much more difficult on the late C4. On my '86 the windshield did not have to come out.
