Ordered a Compucar nitrous wetsystem yesterday and I want to be prepared for when it's installed. I'll be running a 100hp shot on a pretty much stock engine. I also ordered a MSD manual advance/retard (-15+15%)ignition box. My questions are how much should I retard timing, what spark plugs will work the best and should I do anything with my fuel system-things like that. First priority is keeping my engine from blowing up. Any advise?

Retard rule is 2 degrees for every 50 hp of Nitrous. So with a 100 shot, retard it 4 degrees.

Not sure on the plugs, as the LT1 are different than yours. Autolite that are one or two stages colder should work just fine.

Retard timing 4 degrees try it and if you don't see signs of detonation advance it 1 degree and try it. don't use any plug with thin ground strap like some platinum plugs have it will glow and cause detonation get one step colder plug with heavy ground electrode. nitrous requires some tuning be sure that you don't lean out.
start rich check plugs and rejet till you get it right

Yup, get ready to have FUN. I had the same kit on my Z28, using a 50hp shot. The new owner up'ed it to 100hp and is in the mid 12's. Follow what the others have said along with adding a WOT switch and a RPM window switch. Shoot me an email if you need a hand setting it up.

Make sure that fuel pump is in tip-top condition! Also, get a new pump relay. If you lose fuel pressure while under nitrous, the pistons will fuse up with the cyl walls.
Careful with nitrous...it can get addicting
May the force be with you!!!

They covered pretty much everything!

Basically 2 degrees for every 50 hp at these levels is a good rule of thumb.

Start with plugs 1-2 steps colder than stock for a 100 shot (2 for a 150), and RUN COPPER - don't run platinum at all!

I would also highly recommend you consider a window switch for rpm based activation and de-activation. This will prevent 2 of the most common causes of nitrous problems - spraying at to low an rpm and hitting the rev limiter while spraying.
