I'm looking into buying a blower for my L98. Right now it is stock except for a Walker pre-cat eliminator Y-pipe and LT1 exhaust. Any suggestions? How is the Paxton? ATI? Vortech?
Thanks

Vortech is good I have the ATI procharger i choose it over the vortech because it has straight cut gears witch makes it a little more noisy but don't side load the bearings like helical gear in the vortech. This is something that only you can decide do you want a little noise and reliability or less noise and rebuild it more often. I have been running the procharger since june of 1999 i would highly recommend that you get the intercooler this makes a lot more power and less detonation.I put mine on a stock L98 engine with the 12lb pulley you can get 6lb and 10lb also procharger don't recommend the 12lb on stock motor mine ran like all the fires of hell for 2500 miles and i got some bad gas detonation destroyed my engine.Take a word from the wise get a MSD boost retard it would have saved my engine. When the 350 blew in 99 i built a new engine from a GM Bowtie block four bolt main 400 bored it 30 over installed lunati 4340 stroker crank 3.850 this makes 420 cid. Eagle 6 inch 4340 rods custom ross blower pistons 4340 ross pins AFR heads custom grind rollercam.Nitrous oxide system far to much to list here but it dyno's at 1038 hp at 6500rpm and it is still going strong with no problems with the blower or motor. just corkscrewed drive shafts and things like that. If you want more info about setting up a blower motor to last E-Mail me i will be glad to help a fellow corvetter
you will enjoy blowing those mustangs away.

Well, I just want a bolt on blower and then maybe later I'll do the cam/heads/intake/exhaust/gears stuff like you and Ken did. When did you run 12.40's?

Re: (Fastguy)
Right now I'm leaning towards the ATI Procharger with the 2-core intercooler. Is it worth the upgrade to the self conatined oiling? This is a 365 daily driver that will see a handful of Auto-X and more than a handful of 1/4 miles. BTW, Paxton is no longer into SC's, their reps have been instructed to stop pushing their blowers as they are supposedly getting out of the SC biz. Voretch doesn't make Vette SC, nor does Powerdyne so it looks like ATI is the way to go.

Re: (black bart)
black bart,
I have a Vortech V-1 in my 84, and that has straight cut gears!

Re: (Fastguy)
I've have a Paxton kit from Carroll for several years and it was very complete and well thought out.
I picked the Paxton because it looked easier to install, no oil lines to hook up. I've had pretty good luck with it but I only put a few thousand miles/year on it. They have Vortex kits that are better.
Paxton was bought out by Vortex and they farm the Paxton Supercharger assembly to Paradise Wheel in California. http://www.carrollsupercharging.com

Re: (SuperL98)
The Carrol kit looks decent with the Vortech but its about $1,500 more than the ATI. I have neverheard of "gaseous intercooling" either. Again, this is a daily driver so I'm looking for reliability as well as performance. Thanks for all the input.

Good info on that Buick link. When I was running a turbo Ford, a lot pof guys had good luck with water and alcohol injection. I'm just not sure if I want to deal with having to fill the tank all the time, plus the room undr there is limited. I like the idea of the MSD boost retard though.

Re: (2FST4U)
OK, so what type of upgrades? Can I run the stock injectors and just run a bigger fuel pump? What will the re-programming do? Cut back on timing and add fuel?
