I have a 96 corvette and am experiencing wierd things from my transmission. when i drive between 49-59 it goes into a lock up point and if i stay around a certain speed between 49-59 my transmission will sometimes shift up and down continously unless you stop going that certain speed and accelerate more. Now I have been told by many people that that is normal for the lock up point in the transmission but I want an opinion on this from a corvette owner. Also, I first started hearing the noise after I put my magnaflow exhaust and new wheels and tires on, I am not sure if that would have anything to do with it or not, What do you guys think?
If you're staying at a constant speed between 45-60mph without moving the throttle and its going in and out of lockup alot I'd have it looked at. Some is normal if you move the gas pedal but not alot. If it were mine I'd hook a scan tool up to it and watch it while driving (or have someone else watch it while I drove) and see what signals its getting. I know thats not much help but its about the best I can do without some sort of scan tool like a tech 2.
Thanks for your reply on the trans. Q' , Have you put new wheels and tires on your vette? I have put 18 all the way round and think that that might throw the lock up point off in the comuter , do you think thats the possible problem?

Especially since the advent of electronic trans control, this kind of "hunting" should not be a problem. Ask around a LOT, to find one and then talk to a real transmission expert.
