Default plug gap for blower

I don't know what just happened to my post, but it is listed and I can't see any post there. Oh well. Here is what I have....

383 LT1
LT4 heads and intake
Vortech S-trim
Delteq opti-direct ignition
NGK TR6 plugs

What should I gap the plugs at? I know .050" is factory, but should they be gapped smaller for the blower?

I am using a .045 gap in my car. Basically the same set up as yours but with AFR heads and slightly more displacement and stock opti.

I'm running .035, but agree with TJ I probably wouldn't go more than .045.

If it weren't such a pain to change the pluges I'd say if you have everything pretty much dialed in try a few passes with a change of say .05 starting at say .035 and see where the car likes it the best.

Another thing is also the heat range on your plugs, I just recently changed to chanpions. But when I was running TR-6's I was running .035 as well we have 91 octane here in california and I have 100+ degree summers.

Hope that helps!

Well, if those are the only 2 votes, I guess I'll start with .040"

I run Autolite 104's gapped at .040. You could probably go to .045, but changing plugs is a major !@#$!%, so I'd play it safe.

I used to run AC Delco FR3LS6 at 0.042", but with the AFR heads, I now run the Champion Racing at 0.038". It also is dependent upon what level of ignition you are running. Mine are each MSD6AL or 7 series.

Hope this helps.

I use ngk bp8efs plugs with the recessed electrode depending on your boost 35 is what I run .The thing to worry about is if you are blowing out the spark that is why you gap them down and use msd or a device to increase spark. Blow out the spark fire and engine ping.

I would say call denso and ask a tech they are super smart when it comes to plugs and heat ranges!

Default Gap

It really depends on the output of your ignition, the amount of boost you are running and the amount of total ignition timing. 32-35 is pretty normal unless you are really hitting the engine with super high boost levels and then 28-30 is not unusual.
