Default I finished

This has to be a new record. I started on 9/20/04 and finished today 10/17/04.

Replaced the following pieces:

Spark plug wires
Opti (with dynaspark)
water pump (with meziere)
timing cover gasket & oil seals
welded closed the water pump drive hole in the timing cover
replaced the oil pan gasket
replaced the O2 sensors
replaced the tranny fluid (ZF 6 speed)
Changed the oil
Changed the coolant.

I know waaaay more than I used to about this engine.

I'd like to thank all of you who have helped over the last month - especially Tom Strickland for that wonderful tech tip on this job.

Nice work!

Just curious - what's the reasoning behind welding closed the water pump drive hole? TIA.

Just another way of plugging the hole when you eliminate the water pump drive during an electric water pump conversion. I plugged mine with a half dollar and JB Weld. Back side of the coin showing because I didn't want a Democrat's face on my engine!

Tom is very meticulous and if you ever see his car, it shows! Great guy and a bunch of fun too.

Winter's not too bad here in California...

I do my own work because I can't really afford this car. I figured with the free labor - I can buy more/better parts.

I like the 50 cent piece idea - would have been cheaper.
