Just wondering if anybody did a LS6 or LS1 swap in the C4s?

I'm sure someone has, but I know the general conception is for the amount of money it costs to do the swap, its more cost-effective to mod the motor you have or buy something with more power in the first place, that is a direct replacement.

i know of c3 guys doing it
but as far as c4s
if u want more power stroker! and stg 2 or 3 heads!!!!
along with oter basic mods you can get 400-600 hp!!!
ls6 is just a more expensive ls1 and doesnt respond as well to mods!!!!!
itll be another 15k once you find a nice ls6 with low miles and have it installed or hook it up. along with numerous obsticales!
i mean is it work the 40 hp over a lt1
i mean an lt4 is faster than an ls1
i dont know what kind you have l98 or lt1 or lt4
but if you stroke it and get stg 3 heads or even stg 2
no c5 will keep up with u!!!

I'm sorry, but the LSx motors respond *ridiculously* to heads/cam work.

Yep, the LSx engines breathe SO much better than an LTx engine it really isn't even funny. A heads/cam LSx engine can pretty easily attain 430-440 RWHP, whereas a heads/cam LTx engine is doing good if it gets 380 RWHP. Swapping an LSx engine into a C4 can be done, and has been done...but it'll take some time and of course some cash. When I get the time, it's an idea that I plan on seriously looking into!

Do you mean the LS motors dont respond well to Mods? Because I would realy have to dis agree with that one, there are bolt on only F-bodys in my club running 11.8s with no internal motor work not even rocker arms just exhaust, intake and a converter and if you get a head and cam package for the LS motors forget about it. I am building a prety stout stroker LT1/4 (AFR 195 LT4 Heads and LT4 intake) and am well aware that a LS1 with a good cam and a decent set of heads would roll with me no problems.

the only real downside is transmission options... currently, there are no kits to fit the ZF6 to the LSx motor family.

LT-1 is what you have. The LT-4 was only offered in 1996 and was mated with the 6-speed only.

yea L98
look under the hood, if you have a 'proper' distributor on top of the eng at the rear it's a l98 if the sparkplug wires seem to disappear infront of the eng then It's a lt

Well if the ZF trans are the problem then an auto LS engine swap should work well. Another plus for the auto trans!

This is an LT4 - an LT1 will essentially *look* the same, minus the red intake manifold and Grand Sport TB Plate...

Well now, that's embarassing. I just looked to see if it was a 96 and stopped thinking. That seemed to happen a lot yesteday.
