i got my intake manifold all abck on and assembled.... started it up..
and i ahv e apuddle of fuel between #4 and #6 cylinders.... im pretty sur eits #4 injector, bu tit looks like its backing up out of the lower hole... i dont see how this is possible... so i guess it must be from the top right?
any other option besides taking the plenum and fuel rail back off and checking it out? i did replace one injector, but if its pooling when the car is off and not into the chamber, but pooling on the manifold then it is prob the upper o-ring (which i just replaced) right? i had hte car runnign with the exhaust off and jsut manifold so im really sure all are firing...
also do i have to worry about that gas harming my brand new intake manifold gaskets?
Yeah, sounds like the o-ring on top of the fuel injector isn't sealing correctly. Maybe the injector itself has an external leak? I've heard the early Bosch injectors (which I believe are on your '85) can develop external leaks, but I haven't heard of anyone on the forum with that problem.
I'm not sure what else you could do other than pull off the fuel rail and check it Also, I don't think it would hurt your intake manifold gasket.
I hope you used a little oil on the rubber O seals before installing into the fuel rails and intake. If not, you probably have knicked one of the O rings during the reinstall.
i was told all i should use was pb blast... so i put them in a bag sprayed it in and took them out one at a time... i guess we will see when i take it apart... i just hope its not the injector...
can you get the plenum and runners off together? i dont think you can...
Some engine oil on the o-rings helps during reassembly You can get the injectors out by just pulling the plenum off and then disassembling the fuel rail to get the injectors out. Sam Lam has a good doc on doing this.
well its not the upper o-ring... i ahve two leaky injectors... both seem to leak from abive the lower o-ring and up out of the injector hole in teh manifold...
